What You'll Learn — Week by Week

01
Cloud Fundamentals & Architecture
Weeks 1–2
  • Cloud service models — IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and the shared responsibility model
  • Core networking — VPCs, subnets, routing tables, security groups and NACLs
  • Compute — VMs, containers, serverless and when to use each
  • Storage — object, block and file storage across AWS, Azure and GCP
  • Identity and Access Management — users, roles, policies and least privilege
  • Lab: Design and deploy a secure 3-tier VPC architecture on AWS with public/private subnets
02
Terraform for Cloud IaC
Weeks 3–4
  • Terraform architecture — providers, resources, state and the plan/apply cycle
  • Variables, locals, outputs and dependency management
  • Remote state with S3 + DynamoDB and state locking
  • Module design — reusable, versioned module patterns for production
  • Terraform testing with Terratest and tflint validation
  • CI/CD integration — automated Terraform plan and apply pipelines
  • Lab: Build a fully modular Terraform codebase managing a multi-account AWS environment
03
AWS Deep Dive
Weeks 5–6
  • EC2 — instance types, AMIs, Auto Scaling Groups and Launch Templates
  • Managed services — RDS, ElastiCache, SQS, SNS, Lambda and ECS Fargate
  • Load balancing — ALB, NLB, routing rules and SSL termination
  • S3 — bucket policies, versioning, lifecycle rules and replication
  • AWS Control Tower and multi-account landing zone design
  • CloudWatch — metrics, alarms, log groups and dashboards
  • Lab: Deploy a production-grade ECS Fargate application with RDS, ALB and CloudWatch monitoring
04
Azure & GCP Essentials
Week 7
  • Azure resource hierarchy — subscriptions, management groups and resource groups
  • Azure networking — VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall and Private Endpoints
  • Azure AKS, App Service, Azure SQL and Key Vault
  • GCP project structure, VPC networking and IAM
  • GCP Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL and Secret Manager
  • Lab: Deploy the same application on both Azure AKS and GCP Cloud Run using Terraform
05
Cloud Security & Compliance
Week 8
  • Cloud security posture management — AWS Security Hub, Defender for Cloud
  • Network security — VPC flow logs, GuardDuty, WAF and DDoS protection
  • Secrets management — AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault
  • CIS Benchmark controls for cloud environments
  • Compliance automation — SOC 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS in cloud
  • Lab: Implement a full security baseline for an AWS account using Terraform and Security Hub
06
Cloud Cost Optimisation
Week 9
  • FinOps fundamentals — the inform, optimise, operate framework
  • Right-sizing — identifying over-provisioned compute and storage
  • Reserved Instances, Savings Plans and Spot instances
  • Kubernetes cost allocation with Kubecost
  • Infracost — cost estimation in CI/CD pipelines before deployment
  • Lab: Audit and optimise a deliberately over-provisioned AWS environment — reduce the monthly bill by 40%
07
Cloud Migration Patterns
Week 10
  • The 6Rs — Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Rearchitect, Retire, Retain
  • Discovery and dependency mapping for migration planning
  • AWS MGN and Azure Migrate for lift-and-shift migrations
  • Database migration — AWS DMS, schema conversion and testing

08
Disaster Recovery & High Availability
Week 11
  • HA architecture patterns — active-active, active-passive and multi-region
  • RTO and RPO — designing to requirements, not assumptions
  • AWS Route 53 health checks and failover routing
  • Cross-region replication for RDS, S3 and DynamoDB
