What the Client Was Facing
A global logistics company's tracking platform was a tightly coupled .NET monolith that processed tracking events synchronously. As parcel volumes grew, tracking updates were delayed by 4 hours during peak periods β causing thousands of daily customer service contacts.
What ZippyOPS Was Engaged To Do
ZippyOPS was brought in to design and implement a solution addressing the root causes of the client's challenges β delivering measurable outcomes within a fixed engagement timeline. Our team worked embedded with the client's engineers throughout the entire project.
How We Solved It
ZippyOPS redesigned the tracking event pipeline using event-driven architecture. Debezium captured database change events from the legacy system, Kafka became the event bus and new event processors were deployed as independent microservices on Kubernetes. Dual-write during migration ensured no events were lost.
Technologies Used
Measurable Outcomes Delivered
Tracking update latency reduced from 4 hours to under 30 seconds
Customer service contacts related to tracking delays reduced 78%
Platform now processing 50M tracking events per day β 10Γ previous capacity
New tracking features now deployed independently in days, not months
